About Sprint Intelligence

Sprint Intelligence aims to "create future sports predictions" based on its many years of experience

and proprietary technology in the field of AI (artificial intelligence).

We are a technology company with a mission.

We combine decades of accumulated AI expertise with the latest computational technologies and algorithms

to develop sports prediction models with unprecedented accuracy and value.

~The evolution of AI and our journey~

The field of AI has been around since at least the 1940s, but the decades since have seen much promise but little real realization, due to the underpowered computers and primitive algorithms available.

But the field has changed dramatically in recent years. Computers have become thousands of times faster, and algorithms have evolved exponentially. What was once science fiction is quickly becoming reality. Algorithms like deep learning and convolutional neural networks are enabling highly accurate speech recognition, computer vision, and autonomous driving. The field of AI is currently evolving at an incredible pace.

・AI for prediction

AI systems can be used for a wide variety of tasks, many of which are classification problems, such as taking a digital image as an input and identifying objects in the image, such as reading car license plates.

Another type of task is "prediction," which takes historical data as input and outputs the state of a future event. Examples include predicting future stock prices based on past stock price trends, or predicting the outcome of an upcoming soccer game based on past game results.

・Sports predictions

Sports prediction is a major challenge for AI. Modern AI requires large amounts of training data, but in recent years the quantity, quality, and accessibility of historical performance data have improved dramatically. This is the perfect time for well-designed AI systems to make more accurate predictions than ever before.

Sprint Intelligence aims to build prediction systems for a variety of sports, but is starting with horse racing.

Why we chose horse racing as our first challenge

Horse racing is one of the most complex sports for AI.

Below are the main variables that affect the outcome of horse racing.

  • Various course conditions (track condition, distance, gradient, weather, etc.) - Differences in pace (leading, overtaking, etc.)

  • Differences in jockeys and handicaps ・Variations in the amount of data for each horse ・Irregular rest and injuries

  • Frequent failure to finish races and horse falls ・Strategic actions that affect the market (odds)

Because of the many variables involved, horse racing predictions are said to be one of the most difficult prediction tasks.

We chose horse racing as our first field of endeavor for the following reasons:

● Knowledge gained from a previous project dealing with horse pedigree data

● The founder and management team's long-standing understanding and experience of horse racing

● Technical "value" due to complexity

Additionally, because predictions are difficult, there are correspondingly large errors (inefficiencies) in the betting markets, creating room for significant value in our predictions.

・AI predictive model development mechanism

"Learning (training)" is essential for AI predictions. By inputting a huge amount of past data, the AI automatically acquires rules for predicting future results. However, not all problems can be solved simply by inputting data.

  • How to organize the meaning of the data

  • Which variables are essential?

  • How to pre-treat

When it comes to complex subjects like sports, the key is "design capabilities for developing AI," such as the points mentioned above.

Sprint Intelligence engineers have extensive experience in this area and have developed unique techniques for translating complex problems into forms that are easy for AI to learn.

Our strengths and goals

Sprint Intelligence's strength lies in its uniquely designed, highly accurate AI models and the engineering capabilities that support them. Sprint Intelligence systematically utilizes sophisticated technologies developed over many years of development experience, including a C-based system that can process massive amounts of data at high speed, empirical know-how to avoid overfitting and data contamination, and a statistical approach that appropriately combines multiple algorithms.

These technological capabilities accurately capture the complex factors unique to sports, leading to the realization of more reliable predictive models.

To the future... Setting a new standard for sports predictions

The technology cultivated through the horse racing prediction model currently being developed can be applied not only to racing events such as motorsports and skiing, but also to team sports such as soccer and baseball, and individual sports such as tennis and golf.

This is because our algorithms are optimized to address a common challenge: how accurately can we structure complex factors?

AI will greatly expand the possibilities of sports predictions

Harnessing the power of data and algorithms to create a world where people can make more accurate decisions

This is the vision for Sprint Intelligence
